“We figured it would be delayed, postponed or something,” Jessica Leon told KKTV 11 News. “But you know, we didn’t figure it would just be canceled and nothing would happen.”

“I want a chance for her to live her dream,” David Leon said, speaking about his wife.”Or I want my money back at least.”

Jon Eddy of Jon Eddy Productions told 11 News in an email that refunds were unavailable because much of the July 5 show occurred as planned and would be happy to talk to any frustrated fans.

“The event did, in fact happen.” Eddy wrote. “Three of the four bands played their full sets (nearly four hours of live music) and the fireworks were shot. All catering was delivered and every element was executed aside Billy Ray’s performance.”

He added that the show was a “nightmare” and he had lost thousands of dollars on the deal. However, he is offering free tickets to frustrated patrons to three upcoming shows: Jerrod Niemann, Casey Donahew or Eric Paslay, all at the city’s Whiskey Baron.

LeMel has been credited with being the force behind massive album hits like the soundtracks The Big Chill, The Bodyguard and Ghostbusters. He was also a three-year veteran of Jerry Weintraub’s Management III.

His career took flight at the artist-backed film company First Artists where he supervised the soundtrack for the 1976 remake of “A Star Is Born” featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson that sold more than 4 million copies and had the No. 1 Streisand single “Evergreen.” That launched a four-year career in the music business (LeMel actually had a short career as a recording musician but his 1964 debut album was eclipsed by the launch of a band called The Beatles).

He was more known for his time at Columbia Pictures where he not only oversaw the soundtracks for “The Big Chill” and “Ghostbusters” but for “St. Elmo’s Fire,” with the No. 1 hit “Man In Motion” that resurrected the performance of the actual movie.

He moved on to Warner Bros., where he helped build the greatest soundtrack in history, The Bodyguard, which included Whitney Houston’s iconic hit “I Will Always Love You.” The album sold more than 45 million copies worldwide.

He also oversaw soundtracks for films like “You’ve Got Mail,” “City of Angels” and the Harry Potter series and was awarded the Music Supervisors Legacy Award by the Guild of Music Supervisors in 2017.

LeMel suffered from Lewy body dementia, a degenerative brain disease, in his later years but actually applied it to performing with a group called the 5th Dementia, which was the subject of a recent documentary.

LeMel was recently honored in memoriam by the nonprofit MusicMendsMinds.

Lil Nas, with the help of Billy Ray Cyrus, reinterpreted what could be, and probably should be, considered country music, with Billboard rewriting its definitions to put the hip-hop infused tune to the top of the country charts and giving the young man a lot of money in the process. Now there’s Blanco Brown, whose song has garnered more than 4.6 million views on YouTube in just a month (and what a video it is).

Of course, this “trend” is up to some interpretation because Brown may be black but the song doesn’t have any rapping and his voice is pretty much made for country music singing, in the tradition of Charlie Pride to Cowboy Troy to Jimmie Allen, but the rhythm track and bridge breakdown do have more of a pop/dance flare.

The BBR Music Group artist has now officially topped the Billboard Hot Country chart for the week dated July 13. It is the fastest-rising No. 1 since 2017, according to Radiofacts. Plus, the song has hit No. 1 on the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts.

Because of the achy-breaky / electric slide dance provided in the video, it has thousands of user-generated interpretations using #TheGitUpChallenge, making it No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50, US Viral 50 and Canada Viral 50 charts, plus the No. 1 most-Shazamed Country song globally.

The team will now move forward with structural and foundation construction of the site as it prepares for its inaugural season in Major League Soccer next march, according to Pan Stadia. Inter Miami will fully fund the renovation and agree to operate and maintain the site throughout the 50-year agreement. The city will maintain ownership of the property.

The agreement includes an 18,000-capacity soccer stadium, a training facility, several soccer fields, a turf field, running and walking trails, a playground and a dog park, according to Pan Stadia.

“We are thankful for the tremendous collaboration from the City of Fort Lauderdale in helping us finalize this agreement and proceed with the next phase of construction following demolition that concluded in late June,” team managing owner Jorge Mas said. “We are working diligently to finalize many elements of the Club to bring our fans closer to their first match, including bringing on corporate partners, signing players and unveiling a seating plan for the thousands of supporters across South Florida who have already secured their season ticket deposits in the coming months.”

The rediscovery of the van was a centerpiece of one of the episodes of the popular History Channel show last year, with Aerosmith founding member Ray Tabano confirming the authenticity of the vehicle.

The broken-down van was found on a piece of property in the woods of Chesterfield, Mass., a town with a population of 1,200 about 100 miles west of Boston, according to the Associated Press. The property owner said the 1964 International Harverster Metro van was on the property when he bought the land from a person who had a connection to Aerosmith. The band’s founding member Ray Tabano confirmed it was a van used by the group to go to small gigs in the New England area.

Mike Wolfe, one of the hosts of “American Pickers,” said he and co-host Frank Fritz paid $25,000 for the van, calling it “a piece of American rock and roll history.”

Tabano and Wolfe, after a restoration of the vehicle, presented the vehicle to the band on an episode that broadcast July 9. The hosts brought the vehicle to Las Vegas where Aerosmith was holding its Deuces are Wild residency.

The intimate event takes place about six miles south of Big Pine Key, one of the islands that make up the archipelago and is motivated to bring attention to conservation. The event, which is actually broadcast underwater using speakers contributed by Lubell Labs, kicks off today with a reception at the Looe Key Reef Resort’s Tiki Bar on Ramrod Key.

Tomorrow, audience members are encouraged to “put on your favorite costume and your gear” to dive or snorkel on the reef. Local dive shops will host costume parties on their vessels, and the event attracts photographers and videographers from across the world.

The performers actually dive with guitars, horns, drums and other instruments and the event draws dozens of scuba divers. New instruments include the “bass-oon,” the “obloe-fish”  (a cross between an oboe and a blowfish), the “trombonefish” and the “manta-lin.”

“Thirty-five years ago a few Keys locals sat down and wanted to figure out a way to bring awareness to our coral reefs that would preserve them and rebuild them and restore them in any way,” Dave Turner, executive director of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, told Smithsonian Magazine. “They came up with this idea to play music underwater and invited divers and snorkelers to listen while also enjoying the local sea life.

“The preservation of the reef is our main purpose,” Turner added. “[To avoid any further damage], the festival takes place in a nearby sandy area so that the musicians don’t disturb the coral when they’re performing.”

Although making music underwater sounds farfetched, Turner said it is not.

“The music is obviously not as clear as when you’re sitting in a room with a stereo, but you can still hear it and understand the lyrics and music,” he told the magazine. “If you were to go underwater, you would recognize the song and it would sound the same, it just has a little different tone to it. Plus, sound travels faster and farther underwater.”

The former resident and the facility’s founding promoter, AEG / Concerts West, wrapped up their 17-year relationship with the building in June and it was announced in April that the Colosseum would be renovated with a new partnership with Live Nation.

The theatre will now have 4,300 seats and a general admission area with a 380 capacity, according to Billboard. It will include an improved sound system, moving light fixtures and a high-definition LED video wall that will more than double the resolution of the existing wall, the trade mag said. It will also be able to remove the GA section with a lift system that will bring seats up from beneath the floor. There will also be a VIP experience that would include banquettes and bottle service.

“Caesars Entertainment could not be more excited to celebrate the relaunch of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace by welcoming Keith Urban to officially unveil many new and state-of-the-art enhancements that we have made to our award-winning venue,” Jason Gastwirth, president of entertainment of Caesars Entertainment, told Billboard. “Keith is a remarkable musician, and the general admission area will provide our guests an exciting entertainment experience in the next chapter of The Colosseum.”
