CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) – R. Kelly will be moving out of his Chicago recording studio following Cook County Judge Patrice Ball-Reed’s decision to bar the Grammy-Award winning R&B singer from working there overnight due to building-code violations, according to AP.
Among the violations cited by inspectors was evidence the studio, which is reportedly part of a warehouse building on the city’s West Side, was being used as a residence.
In a statement released Wednesday (Feb. 20), Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg likened the singer to Beethoven, Winston Churchill, Sigmund Freud, Tolstoy, F. Scott Fitgerald and John Lennon in an attempt to argue that those who exhibit such creative genius (Kelly included) often do their best work at night.
Greenberg went on to say that “R. Kelly can never be creative and do his job under these circumstances.”
The dispute over the studio comes amid a storm of allegations of sexual misconduct by Kelly, all of which the singer has denied.
