(CelebrityAccess) – Several years ago, two emerging solo artists from opposite sides of the country randomly collided, fell in love, and combined their talents to form Us The Duo (husband-and-wife Michael and Carissa Alvarado). A few successful online videos encouraged these pop songwriters to create their own music together.
In 2014, Us The Duo vaulted to prominence when their #6SecondCovers gained major traction. Us The Duo inked a deal with Republic Records making history as the first artists signed to a major label from popular app, Vine. Since then, they have gone on to release multiple albums, with their last release “Just Love” at #4 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Their social media following has grown to over 7 million and they have created a bonafide lifestyle brand. Selling out headlining shows around the world, Michael and Carissa have also toured with Tori Kelly and GRAMMY award winning Pentatonix on their 2016 world tour.
The beloved pop couple will capture the magic of the Christmas season with a special concert performance on Saturday, December 2 in New York City. Celebrating the release of their first Christmas album, Our Favorite Time of Year, Us The Duo invites fans to the historic Concert Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture for an intimate and memorable evening of holiday classics and new originals.
Us The Duo performed on the TODAY Show this past Friday, November 24. They will also perform on The National Christmas Tree Lighting broadcast on the Hallmark Channel on December 4.
The Amazon Original holiday album features their renditions of holiday classics and originals such as “Wonderful Christmastime,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “December,” “Silent Night,” “Baby,” “It’s Cold Outside,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Christmas in Paradise.” Closing out the year, the couple fulfilled a lifelong dream and served up their first holiday single “Feels Like Christmas” for Amazon. That lit the fire for what would become 2017’s Our Favorite Time of Year…
“The idea of doing a holiday album has been in the works for five years since we started,” admits Michael.
“We pushed to maintain the integrity of the Christmas classics, but put our own Us The Duo twist on them,” smiles Michael. “That was the goal.”
“Over the years, we’ve really evolved into a soulful pop group,” says Carissa. “We’ve started to find our niche. It shows through Our Favorite Time of Year and the new music we’re working on for 2018.” Ultimately, Our Favorite Time of Year represents a deeper message for Us The Duo that’s bound to resonate long after the Christmas decorations are packed and put away.
“We’ve always stood for positivity and bringing joy and happiness through music,” Carissa leaves off. “There’s more than enough hatred in the world right now, and we could use a lot more love. If we can share that with our music and things we put out and we can bring a smile to someone’s face, we know we’re doing something great. It’s about spreading love and empowering others to do whatever they want with their lives.”
