CHICAGO In a surprise move, Chicago’s long-running Riot Fest announced plans to relocate to Chicago’s Douglass Park after previously announcing a move to Seatgeek Stadium in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview.

Riot Fest organizers announced the move in a statement on Wednesday:

Driven by the overwhelming support of the City of Chicago and our fans, we’re excited to announce that we are coming back home to Chicago and Douglass Park.

If there was no Chicago, there’d be no Riot Fest.

As we continue to build a long-term partnership with the City of Chicago, we remain focused on our shared vision of stability and growth in the neighborhood we call home. We deeply appreciate the support from Mayor Johnson, Alderwoman Scott, the Chicago Park District, and The North Lawndale and Little Village communities.

We’re not just coming home–we’re coming back stronger, with an even greater purpose and doubling down on our commitment to Chicago, our fans, and our community. Riot Fest was born and bred here; it’s where we belong.

The move back to downtown Chicago comes just two months after festival co-founder Mike “Riot Mike” Petryshyn announced plans to move the festival to SeatGeek, citing challenges in obtaining permits for the festival from Chicago city officials.

“Several weeks ago, I had enough. I was tired of Riot Fest continually being the lowest hanging fruit. I was tired of playing their games. I was tired of watching something I love being continually used to deflect away from their own internal deficits. This prevented us from giving us the experience you deserve.

“So, it became evident change was needed. Riot Fest will be leaving Douglass Park. And — allow me to be as clear as the azure sky of the deepest summer — our exodus is solely because of the Chicago Park District. Their lack of care for the community, you and us ultimately left us no choice.”

Riot Fest 2024 will take place at Chicago’s Douglass Park from September 20-22 with a lineup that includes Fall Out Boy, Beck, Pavement, Slayer, The Offspring, Public Enemy, and more.

CORNWALL, UK (CelebrityAccess) — A crowd surge at Superstruct’s Boardmasters Festival in Cornwall left 7 people with injuries on Friday at the surfing and live music event.

According to the BBC, the incident occurred at the festival’s The Point stage during a performance by DJ Sammy Virji, which was ultimately canceled.

Witnesses reported being crushed against crowd barriers and local law enforcement officials stated that they were notified of a “crowd collapse” at the festival which “left a small number of attendees injured.”

Law enforcement officials said that despite initial reports, no one was killed in the incident and the injuries appeared to have been minor.

In a statement released on Saturday, Boardmasters organizers said seven people were transported to area hospitals for evaluation and have all since been discharged.

One of those victims, a 17-year-old girl named Elena, told the BBC that she suffered soft tissue damage to her foot during the incident and will be on crutches for several weeks.

She said she waited an hour for assistance after the crowd surge and was provided with bottled water and told to return to her tent by festival staff.

“They gave me a bottle of water but that was it,” she told the BBC. “They wouldn’t give me any paracetamol, ice packs – they ran out of everything.”

According to event organizers, the festival’s Point Stage was re-opened after a full review of the safety management process.

Following the incident, Cornwall’s local government announced plans to open an inquiry into the incident. A spokesperson for the local authority told the BBC that the Council’s public protection service was investigating but was unable to comment further while the investigation is ongoing, the BBC reported.

(vip-booking) – France’s renowned heavy metal festival, Hellfest, has significantly contributed by donating 1 million euros (USD 1.092 million) to Savage Lands, a non-profit organization focused on reforestation efforts.

Founded by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and guitarist Sylvain Demercastel, Savage Lands raises funds to restore forests and create sanctuaries free from human interference in Costa Rica.

The organization finances its work through song royalties, donations, and various fundraisers, as well as by building nature sanctuaries, establishing green zones and undertaking other land preservation projects.

Hellfest’s donation is part of a five-year partnership, with Savage Lands continuing to host a booth at the festival. The non-profit has protected 60,000 square feet of rainforest, funded entirely by music royalties.

Many notable musicians supported Savage Lands at Hellfest. Sylvain Demercastel was accompanied by Florian Pons (Loco Muerte), Poun and Etienne Treton (Black Bomb A), with special appearances by Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) and Daniel de Jongh (Textures) throughout their set. Chloe Trujillo and The Gathering’s Silje Wergeland also joined in.

For the grand finale, Savage Lands brought out Jesper Liveröd (Nasum), Alejandro Montoya (Cultura Tres), Billy Graziadei (Biohazard), and Shane Embury (Napalm Death).

“Our goals are within reach,” said Demercastel. “By converting the land we purchase into nature sanctuaries, Savage Lands sets a precedent for environmental activism. But time is of the essence. Ecosystems are still under threat, and if we don’t act swiftly, there may be no wildlife left to protect.”

ADELAIDE, South Australia (CelebrityAccess) — Turmoil in Australia’s festival market continued on Friday as organizers for the Adelaide-based Harvest Rock festival announced that the event will be on hiatus for 2024.

In a statement announcing the change, the festival team said:

“After two years of eating, drinking and dancing in Adelaide, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone Harvest Rock 2024. This decision was made to ensure that Harvest Rock continues to deliver the experience that our local, national and international fans have come to know and love into the future. We would like to recognize and appreciate the ongoing support of the South Australian Government for Harvest Rock.

“For the dedicated fans who bought early tickets in 2023 you will automatically be refunded through the original point of purchase within 14 days. We look forward to delivering another amazing Harvest Rock in the future.”

The two-day festival takes place in Adelaide in October and during its 2022 debut, it featured an international lineup that included Jamiroquai, Beck, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Bright Eyes, and more.

While a reason for the cancellation was not provided, reps for producer Secret Sounds told the Adelaide Advertiser that they were unable to book an appropriate headline act for the show this year.
