EAST SUSSEX, UK (CelebrityAccess) – Wise Music Group (WMG), the entity behind Edition Peters Artist Management (EPAM), has revealed a strategic move involving the transfer of artists from EPAM’s roster to Podium Music, now under the leadership of Robin Tyson. This decision signifies EPAM’s departure from the artist management sector.

While EPAM and its publishing components remain under WMG’s majority ownership, the recent shift marks a change in the direction of EPAM’s involvement in artist management. WMG took control of EPAM just over a year ago and subsequently sold its sheet music business to Faber Music.

Tyson, who led EPAM for 13 years, played a crucial role in shaping the careers of notable artists, including Voces8, Apollo5, Eriks Esenvalds, Ola Gjeilo, and Zeb Soanes.

Despite the transition, Tyson will maintain ties with WMG by continuing to collaborate on choral publishing projects with EPAM composers such as Jonathan Dove, Roxanna Panufnik, Roderick Williams, and others.

Expressing his sentiments on the development, Tyson stated, “It has been a wonderful journey to build EPAM, and I am immensely proud of what has been achieved over the past 13 years. wantke to put on record my sincere thanks to the directors and staff of Edition Peters for their vision and support since 2009.”

He expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I am excited to continue working with such talented artists under the banner of Podium Music. The music industry continues to evolve, and I am confident that this new chapter will bring fresh opportunities and continued success for everyone involved.”

EPAM chairman Chris Butler said: “We wish Robin every success with Podium Music and look forward to working with him in the many areas of shared interest with Edition Peters and Wise Music Group.” The move reflects the dynamic nature of the music industry, and both Edition Peters and Podium Music are poised for new opportunities in this evolving landscape.

SACRAMENTO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Bucking the trend of declining attendance and sponsorship that many performing arts organizations across the U.S. are facing, the Sacramento Ballet just put the finishing touches on a season marked by sold-out performances and strong local support from the community.

During the 2023 season, SacBallet performed classic works by Tchaikovsky, such as perennial fan favorites like Swan Lake and the Nutcracker, as well as works by modern dancemakers, including Jermaine Maurice Spivey, Penny Saunders, Alejandro Cerrudo and Adam Hougland.

Additionally, the ballet company received support from multipole grants and during the 2023 season, SacBallet was one of five U.S. companies named as recipients of Dance/USA’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Female Choreographers in Ballet Initiative, enabling it to work with noted international choreographers Caili Quan and Stephanie Martinez. Additional support came from the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.

The local community also came to the aid of the company and annual Big Day of Giving fundraising campaign (May) — sponsored by Sacramento Regional Community Foundation — supporters of the Sacramento Ballet raised $44,000, well over its $25,000 target.

“Arts organizations still face challenging times and our determined vision for the future has coalesced into success beyond expectations,” said Anthony Krutzkamp, Artistic/Executive Director, Sacramento Ballet. “We are grateful for the unwavering support of our audiences, patrons and donors who filled our houses to peak levels this season.”

This is a time which I believe has changed all of us in many unique and complex ways, and I certainly have a greater appreciation for life and for how art and music enriches my everyday existence and that of those around us. I have no plans other than to be with my loved ones, to whom I am deeply grateful for helping me to continue to be strong in my resolve to grow and remain challenged, both personally and artistically, each and every day.”

For his part, General Director Alexander Need said, “I would like to thank Gustavo Dudamel, whose passion and immense talent have brought so much to the repertoire of our house. He was able to forge a special relationship with the musicians of the Orchestra, the artists of the Chorus, the singers and the artistic teams, a relationship marked by mutual respect and the desire to create the most beautiful performances together. The recent success of ‘Nixon in China’ is one of the most striking illustrations. Gustavo Dudamel is an immense musician. BOSTON (CelebrityAccess) — In a surprise move, Boston Symphony Orchestra President and Chief Executive Officer Gail Samuel announced her resignation from the post after just 18 months in the leadership role.

Samuel joined the BSO in June 2021 as the organization was ramping up for their return after the COVID-19 shutdown and she worked with the board to implement re-opening campaigns for each of the BSO’s venues, including Tanglewood and Symphony Hall.

“Gail came to the BSO as we were beginning to chart a critical course through the very consequential effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Barbara Hostetter, Chair, Board of Trustees, Boston Symphony Orchestra. “At a time when stabilizing the institution was of paramount priority, Gail was a steadying force. She also led the BSO through a vital turning point of generational change, setting in motion a creative vision that reflects the BSO’s commitment to diversity. As a result of her expertise, broad lens and hard work, the BSO is well positioned to continue with this important progress. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I express my gratitude to Gail and our entire executive team.”

“It was an honor to lead the Boston Symphony Orchestra, one of the world’s most celebrated orchestras, particularly during such a significant time in history,” Samuel said. “When I arrived at the BSO, I was dedicated to re-opening Tanglewood and Symphony Hall, and to increasing creativity at the BSO by welcoming artists to our stages more broadly representing the rich diversity that exists in our city. After navigating the profoundly complicated re-opening matters and having successfully laid the groundwork for continued evolution at the BSO, I have decided to step down,” Samuel said.

“The end of the season and Holiday Pops performances offer a natural time with limited disruption. I hold great pride in all that was accomplished during such a challenging time for the arts and culture sector. I am confident that the work I have done and the tools we put in place will enable future growth and diversity and enrich the BSO’s rich legacy of artistry. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees, the Boston arts and cultural community, and the BSO’s players and staff for the opportunity to positively impact this wonderful institution,” Samuel added.

Her last official day at the helm of the BSO will be January 3rd but will provide “transition assistance” following her departure. Neither Samuel or the Symphony shared any details about the reason for her abrupt exit.

The Board of Trustees of the Boston Symphony Orchestra announced that Jeffrey D. Dunn, a current member of the BSO’s Board of Advisors and the organization’s Finance Committee, will serve as interim President and Chief Executive Officer, starting January 4, 2023.

“Jeff Dunn is a much-admired executive, recognized across industries for an innate ability to lead complex organizations with sound judgment and innovative ideas,” said Barbara Hostetter, Chair, Board of Trustees, Boston Symphony Orchestra. “We especially hold immense respect for Jeff’s experience in guiding organizations in times of change and are grateful to have him help us continue our forward momentum.”

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — The Nashville Symphony’s Board of Directors voted to suspend all concert and events through July 31st, 2021, due to the impact of COVID-19.

As a result, the organization will furlough a total of 79 musicians and 49 full-time staff members – including Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero – effective July 1.

“This was an extremely difficult and painful decision to make,” said Board Chair Mark Peacock. “The Nashville Symphony’s management and board of directors have been exploring every available option to ensure the long-term sustainability of the institution.”

“We realize the dramatic impact this decision will have on the lives of the very musicians and staff who have built the Nashville Symphony into the community treasure that it is today, and we are working hard to support them through this difficult transition. But without the ability to perform for the public, we are unable to generate essential operating revenue. And without that revenue, the Nashville Symphony faces a threat to its very existence,” Peacock added.

The symphony has already been forced to cancel or reschedule more than 65 concerts and events since early March, resulting in losses of more than $8 million to date, or roughly 30% of the organization’s annual income.

“First and foremost,” Peacock continued, “we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons, along with our musicians, staff and volunteers. That means doing everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With operational costs totaling $2.3 million every month, we also face an enormous financial risk due to the continuing uncertainty caused by this pandemic. Therefore, we felt it necessary to take decisive action now to ensure that the Nashville Symphony is able to reemerge from the current crisis.”
